Aerin Lauder's Uniform is a Black Blazer by The Row
The beauty and lifestyle mogul tackles our Boxcutter Shopping Questionnaire.
Aerin Lauder has long blurred the lines between lifestyle, beauty, and design. As Founder and Creative Director of AERIN, her work reflects a curated sensibility: objects that feel made more to be lived in than merely admired, and décor and fragrance that recall nostalgia without ever becoming kitsch. Her aesthetic is elevated, restrained, timeless — rooted in her family’s esteemed beauty heritage but always reaching toward something quietly modern.
Most recently, she has turned her eye toward travel and tailoring with Savile Row stalwart Knatchbull. The pairing shows her interest in pieces that hold up both visually and functionally — think travel blazers, a weekender meant for real journeys, not just airport glamour (or Instagram moments). It’s the sort of collaboration that reveals where her passions lie: in craftsmanship, detail, and the intersection of practicality and elegance. Starting this week, the partnership is available in Aerin stores, aerin.com, Knatchbull’s showroom, and knatchbull.com.
Below, the beauty and lifestyle mogul tackles our Boxcutter Shopping Questionnaire.
Fashion & Style
The best fashion investment I ever made was: My Belperron gold cuff. It is a timeless staple that I wear almost every day.
My “uniform” (the thing I reach for over and over) is: A white silk shirt with a black blazer by The Row. A silk shirt, a blazer, and a simple pair of black pants have always been my uniform because it is an effortlessly feminine combination and can take me from day to night.
Something I just bought to wear this season is: A Carolina Herrera red lace dress. I love elegant touches of color, especially during the Fall and holiday seasons in New York.
Something in my cart right now is: The navy travel jacket from our newest AERIN x Knatchbull collaboration. It is the perfect piece to take you from city to country, day to night. Knatchbull is a London-based womenswear label founded by Daisy Knatchbull. I have long admired Daisy’s sensibility, and this capsule blends the refined tailoring of British heritage with the ease and elegance of American style. I am so excited about this partnership; the collaboration is a natural meeting of timeless heritage and contemporary refinement.
If I could, I’d spend all my money on: Gold jewelry. My grandmother, Estée, used to say that gold is neutral, and I believe that is so true. I love a simple touch of gold with almost everything in my wardrobe. Sometimes, if I don’t know what to wear, a gold cuff makes my outfit feel complete.
The piece I’m always re-purchasing is: A great white silk shirt.
The last thing I panic-bought before an event was: Manolo Blahnik silk pumps. I bought them in a rush before an event, but they have already become a go-to evening shoe in my wardrobe.
Beauty & Wellness
The best money I’ve ever spent on a beauty treatment was: A facial by Aida Bicaj. Taking care of my skin is so essential, and there is nothing better than the refreshed, hydrated feeling of an incredible facial. I try to make an appointment whenever I can to keep my skin feeling healthy and glowing.
A beauty product I’m constantly reaching for is: Estée Lauder Night Repair. I have been using this product for as long as I can remember, and it is still part of my daily routine, both in the morning and at night. My grandmother would always say, “You only have one face, take care of it,” so I do my best to maintain a consistent skincare routine. I also always have Advanced Night Repair with me when I travel; I like to apply the serum to my face while on a plane, so my skin feels hydrated as soon as I arrive at my destination.
The product I buy in multiples so I never run out is: Fragrance is my favorite finishing touch whenever I am getting ready to go somewhere, whether it is to the office, out to dinner, a more formal affair, or even on my travels. I like to change my fragrance based on my mood, the season, and the occasion. Two of my favorite fragrances year-round are AERIN Rose de Grasse and Tuberose Gardenia. However, I am especially excited about Amber Musk Vanille, which is our newest fragrance for the season. It is a warm and delectable fragrance, crafted as an olfactory interpretation of sweet, cherished memories with notes of vanilla, marshmallow, orange flower, and Rose Centifolia.
I can never have too many: lip glosses. I have multiple in my bag at any given time. A few of my favorites are from La Mer and Tom Ford.
A beauty product that actually changed my skin/hair/life is: Estée Lauder Re-Nutriv Ultimate Diamond Brilliance Soft Crème. It is luxurious, hydrating, and effective.
Absolutely essential in my bag is: AERIN Rose Lip Conditioner. It provides the perfect, soft, subtle shine on your lips, and I never leave home without it.
Recommendations & Rituals
In my opinion, everyone is sleeping on: Menopause cream for face and body. The concept is so important and impactful for women, yet many people are not exploring these products.
My favorite place to shop in my home city is: Bergdorf Goodman. It’s an iconic shopping destination in New York City, and my favorite place to go for fashion, beauty, and accessories.
My favorite place to shop online is: Moda Operandi, which offers a unique edit of new, interesting brands and a distinctly stylish point of view.
_________ is a brand I love supporting because: I love shopping at The Row because of their timeless approach to fashion and their incredible quality.
The store, brand, or designer I wish more people knew about is: Mark Cross, America’s oldest luxury accessory brand and one of my all-time favorites. The brand is the epitome of quiet luxury in the best way. Their pieces are effortlessly elevated, classic, and versatile.
Home & Lifestyle
Something I just bought for my home is: I just purchased Murano bar glasses from Laguna. I am always adding to my collection of tabletop pieces and glassware.
The home item that makes things feel instantly put together is: I always have fresh flowers in my home, no matter the season. I like to incorporate flowers that are local and in season, placed in beautiful vases throughout my house. I feel that fresh flowers create the warmest and most inviting environment.
My go-to hostess gift is: My favorite hostess gift is a beautifully scented candle. I love choosing a scent that fits the season or is inspired by a destination that the hostess loves.
The indulgence I will always justify is: Since I entertain so often, I am constantly purchasing new tabletop pieces and discovering vendors and artisans that I admire around the world. To me, there is nothing better than bringing my favorite people together for a fun, cozy dinner at home. Creating a beautiful tablescape is a part of the preparation that allows me to be creative, and that I really enjoy. I am always inspired by the season, the location, and the occasion, which helps me curate the perfect tablescape.
Wildcard
The best shopping advice I’ve ever been given is: Someone once told me not to overthink a purchase and go with my first instinct. I have definitely followed this… for better or for worse.
Shopping for me is: Therapy and inspiration.
I knew I was a “shopper” when: When I was a child, I loved visiting FAO Schwarz and discovering what I gravitated towards and the endless options throughout the store. I knew I was a shopper ever since.
