Blair Waldorf is a Stoner.
Weedie Parker's Brett Heyman on hot stoner girls, Upper East Side fixtures, and that one time with Meryl.
Good morning, Upper East Siders. Gossip Girl here, your one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite. Spotted: Queen B, cavorting in tweed… and smoking weed. Rumor has it her ladylike bag is full of party tricks. Has our good girl finally gone bad? After all, you can’t spell Burn without a capital B. You know what they say: watch your back but always turn heads.
Edie Parker, founded by former fashion exec and NYC native Brett Heyman, also caters to the hot pot head via Weedie Parker. Think one-hitters with a sense of humor, sexy nested tabletop lighters, and bongs that look like fruit.
In a stroke of wry genius, Edie Parker has collaborated with heritage brand St. John —an unbeatable combination of old guard and new— on limited-edition Burn Bags, which boast a clever retractable lighter and are swathed in ladylike tweed made with St. John archival yarns. The spokeswoman? None other than Queen B herself, Leighton Meester. Can you even?
It’s 4/20. I can’t think of a more appropriate way to celebrate than to chat with Brett about women and weed.
Try to behave today. Or don’t.
xoxo.
The Designer Dossier Questionnaire: Brett Heyman, Edie Parker
Jess Graves: Tell me something about your background that’s not in your website bio.
Brett Heyman: When I was in sixth grade, I played Rizzo in my elementary school production of Grease. Meryl Streep was a parent in the class and was overheard telling a parent about me ‘she has a talent.’
JG: Not Meryl!! And to think, that wasn’t even your peak. How would you describe your personal style?
BH: Eclectic. Most days I’m classic and simple. Kind of boring. But at night I love nothing more than a vintage party dress. Usually from the ‘80s.
JG: Mmm. The 80s were a great time for music. What album, playlist, or song has captivated you lately?
BH: My friend just introduced me to a Japanese bluegrass band called Mari Nakamura. Incredible.
JG: It’s 4/20. How are you celebrating?
BH: Picnic in the park with the ladies of Edie Parker. We do it every year. Weed, cheese and wine. The trifecta.
JG: Excellent taste in vices. Tell me about your relationship with weed and why you decided to meet the hot stoner girls where they’re at.
BH: I’ve smoked on and off since high school, but my husband got me very jazzed about weed again when we started dating. I was very excited about what was happening with legal recreational weed in LA and would visit dispensaries when I was there. It was obvious that nobody was speaking to women in those doors. Weed brands were medicinal, masculine, or minimalist. The Edie Parker ethos is ‘for a good time’, creating products that surprise and delight. We thought the weed world needed more of that. Shareable, considered, elevated, and FUN products across THC and accessories. We want to destigmatize cannabis and help people interact with it like they would any product that sparks joy in their lives.
JG: Speaking of a good time. You’re throwing a party. What’s the vibe?
BH: Music is a must. A signature cocktail should be made and ready to be served. Be dressed and ready when people arrive. As an attendee, do not be early. Invite your besties but also some semi-strangers. Mix it up. Keep it unexpected. I love a game at the end of the evening but don’t force it. If people don’t want to play they don’t have to.
JG: I’m always looking for a good restaurant recommendation. Where do you like to hang out?
BH: I like everything old/classic New York. So the martini at the Carlyle is up there. It comes with a little extra on the side. Monkey Bar, Raouls, etc.
JG: What’s your go-to look for going out to dinner?
BH: Denim and diamonds.
JG: Holy shit, denim and diamonds are my go-to — I have a playlist for you since that’s your vibe. Seen any good live music lately?
BH: I’ve seen a lot of great stuff in general lately. Appropriate with Lady Paulson and Elle Fanning. Dying to see Cole Escola ‘Oh, Mary!’ Loved the Picasso: A Cubist Commission in Brooklyn at the Met. And whenever the reunions air for the Real Housewives of (insert city), I consider it the height of culture.
JG: Yeah, Heather Gay from Real Housewives of Salt Lake City deserves an Emmy. RECEIPTS! TIMELINE! Anyway, what's in your cart right now?
BH: A lego for my son, Yasso pops because my freezer broke and I need to refill it, and a vintage Oscar dress on eBay I’m mulling over for a summer wedding.
JG: What should be in my cart right now?
BH: Neosporin and tums. They’re good to have on hand.
JG: One piece of business advice, one piece of friendship advice. Go.
BH: About business? Be nice to everybody. About friendship? If you make one friend at every different walk of life, that is an accomplishment.
JG: How does where you live influence your work?
BH: I live in NYC and am so inspired by the city—mostly the energy, the architecture, and the possibility. You can truly do anything in New York at any time. I love it.
JG: Drop a beauty secret.
BH: Once in a while I do a face massage with honey. It’s like an instant facelift.
JG: Last question. Describe your perfect Sunday.
BH: It involves bagels, a walk, and Bravo.
