Inbox Stylist: Let's Box, Shall We?
The one item that's fought its way to the top of my rotation.
I like to save up my newsletters like a fat little stack of magazines and then gorge on them all in one sitting. Drifting down that rabbit hole one day, I thumbed across Comme Si in
’s and found myself fully seated amongst a wonderland of sumptuous socks and beautifully styled, Italian-made basics. Did I order red socks? Of course I did! And then I upped that UPT with a pair of boxers in the cart, unsure of the fit but willing to take the gamble.I’ve been a bit of a Red Riding Hood with boxers since seeing them on The Row’s Paris runway last year. Wardrobe.nyc’s? Too short. Interior NYC’s? Too enormous. The Row’s? Egregiously priced.
Until Comme Si. Great fit, comfortable but still sexy, and well-priced. As Red would say, juuuuuust right.
I’ve been styling every outfit around them for the last two weeks. They’re a perfect foil to September’s contradictory state: when your heart says fall, but the thermostat says summer. Styled with a light jacket and a smart shoe, there isn’t a damn place they can’t go.

I wore this outfit for shopping in Soho with my best friend Chris. We walked five thousand steps in balmy, overcast ick and still looked put together enough for dinner at Torrisi. This Acne button-down is my favorite to pair with the boxers, by the way. I think the longer length is perfect with a blazer.

I riffed on the same look with an accessory switch-up for the U.S. Open. My friend Venita scored incredible courtside seats (people dress up a bit more in this section) compliments of Aperol USA. If you go, the Ralph Lauren merch area offers custom monogramming — I got a white Open hat with red thread emblazoned with my initials.

We had a teasing whiff of fall weather last weekend in New York. Walking from Saint Theo’s to Dante in the West Village around 9 pm, I clocked the temps around 66 degrees. Perfect.
The following morning, it was still cool outside, so I threw on a light sweater with boxers and mesh flats to hit the Greenmarket and run some errands.

The next night, I had drinks with some fashion-y friends at The Ned, so I broke out a little heel and an oversized jacket — the shorts gave the whole look great scale.
And if I was hung over the next day getting bagels, you’d have never known it, even in last night’s jacket.
Chefs kiss!! Loving seeing the versatility of those boxer shorts.
