Nine Ways to Make it a Perfect Sunday
Our favorite designers talk small rituals, soft clothes, and weekend indulgences.

Every time I interview someone for our Designer Dossier series, I end with the same question: Describe your perfect Sunday.
It’s a gentle reminder that no matter how glamorous or unconventional someone’s life may be, we’re all tethered by the same quiet cravings: slow mornings, farmers’ market hauls, and the kind of bath that makes you lose track of time.
You want the clothes you slide into as comfortable as the day itself. You want style, but you also want easy. I’m thinking about Malene Birger’s crisp cotton trench coats, EBY’s reader-favorite bras, and The Row’s barely-a-shoe mesh flats.
Beauty is the same. I want air-dried locks, sunscreen on my face, and a long-wearing dab of Rare Beauty Soft Pinch blush applied with my fingers on the way out the door.
My perfect Sunday? Sleeping in, cuddling in bed with my dogs while my fiancé brings me coffee, followed by a market run and a day spent cooking. Friends over for cocktails at five, a shared dinner with people we love, a hot bath, and back in bed by 9.

Time Spent With Family
“With my husband and son, traveling somewhere together. We love to take road trips, rent cars wherever we go, and find places to explore along the way. This is my definition of true happiness.” - Olivia Villanti, Chava Studio
“Just one more day with [my grandmother] Dorsey. At her house, next to her pool, where I learned to swim, in the house that feels like home to me more than anywhere.” - Meg Strachan, Dorsey
“A cozy dinner party with my husband and our friends that spills into tarot card and/or astrology readings.” - Ashley Harris Moubayed, Don’t Let Disco

Bagels, Breakfast, and the Farmer’s Market
“Wake up, make myself my cup of tea, go to the farmer’s market, get fresh fruits and vegetables for the week, pop by the fish market (time permitting), come home, and have friends over for some pool time and an early dinner. Very domesticated, I know, but it’s a chance to be with my family and friends and have a relaxing Sunday before the week begins.” - Danielle Sherman, Sherman-Field
“Lazy bagel and lox breakfast while taking in church online. Walk to the farmers' market with my husband, Evan, and our soft-coated wheaten terrier, Bo Derrick. Meeting a friend for a glass of wine and oysters. Early bedtime!” - Gigi Burris, Gigi Burris
“I'm sleeping in (‘till 8 a.m., lol), taking a long bath, going to the farmer’s market in Saint Germain, spending time with my son, and cooking dinner for friends.” - Stephanie Danan, CO

Ed. note: EBY is offering a buy-one, get-one on bras from 8/1 to 8/5. It’s unlimited (buy 1 get 1, buy 2 get 2, buy 3 get 3...) and includes all bras, except the Pain-Free T-Shirt Bra. Code: GRAVESBOGO

“Me” Time
“I get up at 5:30 AM, make a coffee, take a 30-minute walk around my neighborhood, and then drive to the beach for a swim. I love the way the water and the sky become one when you’re floating in the middle of the ocean. I try to make my mind feel this expansive and open for the rest of the day.” - Emme Parsons, Emme Parsons
“In France, they have a saying for having a lie-in: ‘Faire la grasse matinée,’ which literally means to make a fat morning. As I age, there is no greater luxury than spending a Sunday morning with coffee and no plans in bed. We make a lot of fat mornings on Sundays in my house.” - Janessa Leone, Janessa Leone
“If I were being totally indulgent, I would do yoga followed by a session in my sauna blanket, followed by the longest shower in the world, because after bed, my favourite thing is the shower.” - Lucy Delius, Lucy Delius
To be back in bed by 9 is, usually, the right solution.
