The List: A Little Black Chanel Dress, The Industry's Viral Shoe Designer, and Sherman Field Goes Silver.
Plus: Rising brands among the ranks of those enigmatic “cool girls”.
Today’s issue is free for everyone thanks to partnership consideration from Barefaced and Rare Beauty. Additional consideration is provided by Michael Kors and Maison d’Etto. If you would like to work with us, email lauren@aire-ny.com.
This issue is dedicated to the memory of my Uncle Jack W. Todd, a constant and loving presence in my life, who is gone too soon.
Hey, big news: we now have a digital storefront. You don’t have to wait for a new issue to hit anymore: the discoveries are landing in real time. I update it daily with new finds — it’s a curation of everything I find across the Internet. And did you see our Big Fall Shopping Discount Code Drop? Major stuff if you’ve got the shoppies!
If this is any indication of Blazy’s new Chanel, I might become a Chanel girl. Danielle Goldberg, nobody can touch you.
New fall arrivals of note from Heirlome (these and this), CO (this), RUADH (these), and Toteme (this, this).
Rising brands among the ranks of those enigmatic “cool girls” we’re always talking about: LAPIMA sunglasses, Sapir Bachar jewelry, Alfie clothing, and IZIE shoes. Investigate at will.
Fashion Month is coming up, which is simultaneously a marathon and a race. As with any endurance sport, the true winners are often revealed to be the best prepared. I say it all the time, but this is when it really starts to matter: YOUR BAG IS YOUR CAR. This is not exclusive to those who go to fashion shows. Women have long been prepping pouches to stash for whatever the day brings. Pack accordingly! In mine: mints (not chewing gum, nobody wants to be photographed mid-chaw), a skin touch-up plus long-wearing lip compact/liner duo from Farah Homidi, long-wearing Soft Pinch Blush from Rare Beauty that can be touched up with the tap of a finger, a Crown Affair or La Bonne Brosse mini hair brush, a Sophie Buhai hair clip, bobby pins, blister tape, Kleenex, a safety pin or two, a mini deodorant, a Jillian Dempsey slick-back stick (key if I get caught in weather), a Tide Pen, an emergency Xanax, an electrolyte packet, a mini Tatcha face mist, Advil, and a portable power bank.
Also prudent for those marathon days: comfortable shoes, a conservative spritz of interesting perfume, and good underwear. It doesn’t matter how great the outfit is if you smell funky, can’t walk, or are constantly adjusting yourself. Loyal as ever, I’m finishing with a dusting of Maison d’Etto’s Macanudo.
End of day? Theragun and Dragon Balm, especially on the neck and shoulders, from lugging that big-ass bag around! Coincidentally, Therabody is 20% off sitewide now. I know it’s way too early for holiday gift chit chat, but if you’re the early shopper type, nobody doesn’t like a Theragun Mini. (While we’re chatting sales, another helpful tidbit: Ritual has marked most everything down by 40% for a hot minute. As always, I recommend Hyacera for inside-to-outside wrinkle prevention and skin hydration.)
I choose my skincare wisely on those days, too. Barefaced makes a great Vitamin C serum that defends against environmental stressors and keeps your skin hydrated — never a bad idea to arm your skin with antioxidants before a long day in the elements, city, or otherwise. I stack it underneath the brand’s Tinted Protection SPF 50+ for another layer of protection before applying a quick tap tap of Soft Pinch blush in shade “Worth” (a radiant true rose tone) and a hydrating SPF lip balm under my aforementioned lip combo.
Our pal Danielle at Sherman Field recently introduced fine Silver to her jewelry offering, and the girls are going wild. It’s significantly more affordable, so if the line was out of reach for you before, take another peek. Revisit our interview if you need a refresh:
The fashion-to-farming pipeline is endless and fascinating—the latest: Bloom Farm’s denim collaboration with Citizens of Humanity, available on Moda. The Genoa bootcut jeans would look great styled with Khaite’s Clive boot and Toteme’s Zipped Country Jacket somewhere like Blackberry Farm.
- found these heavenly things, and I acted quickly! Listen, if The Row, Bottega, or Khaite had a hit shoe in the past handful of years, odds are Nina Christen designed it. Giving us CHRISTEN, a shoe line of her own, was a logical next step… pun intended.
The bi-coastal girls are going to devour these. And this top/bottom combo with a clog for the sleep on that west-to-east coast flight.
I want to pet this.
Soft Services' beloved exfoliating bar (which I have often called a back scratch in a soap) has been taken down a notch, and it’s a good thing. Now the brand is offering a new bar with a mild-to-moderate level of physical exfoliation (more gentle than the original Buffing Bar, which is considered moderate-to-intense)—ideal for frequent use and perfect for those who found the original Buffing Bar a bit too intense. It helps smooth KP, soften rough patches, and prevent ingrown hairs. Ooh, and it smells like an orange affogato. Win.
Crown Affair is now making us silk pillowcases.
Metier Bespoke has my attention. As does this marigold mini skirt via Lisa Yang and this charcoal stripe shirt from Sold Out.nyc.
Do you have a Brick yet? Mine changed my life.
Now that summer’s coming to a close, I must ask you: Team Connor or Team Jeremiah?
Parting thought:
