The List: MAKE IT MAKE SSENSE.
The sales are wild right now. "Nobody hates Saks." Plus: styling THAT Aligne coat.

In the canon of Meg Ryan movies, The Women isn’t exactly in the upper echelon. But it’s cute enough, and the original Saks Fifth Avenue plays a central plot role.
Sylvie, one of the movie’s supporting gal pals, is a hybrid of rom-com tropes: a sassy, single magazine editor in *The City* who has fabulously elected to remain childless. Think: a less tawdry Samantha Jones. At one point in the movie, her friend’s toddler is pitching a fit about having to be at Saks.
“I hate this store!” Says the kid.
Sylvie freezes, turns to her sharply, and hunches down to her level.
“April?” Sylvie offers. “I’m gonna say something very important, and I want you to remember it for the rest of your life.”
She looks at the child squarely.
“Nobody hates Saks.”

It’s a memorable line from an otherwise forgettable movie, principal for its truth. Nobody hates Saks.
If you’ve forgotten your fondness for classic department store perusal, Saks is beckoning you back with a Spend More, Save More promotion both online and in-store.
The item selection isn’t your typical picked-over lot of things the store is trying to move. It’s a strong collection of in-season, new-to-the-floor items from brands we all love here, like Toteme, Le Labo, miu miu, and Blazé Milano. Shop it here.
From Wednesday, October 16 through Saturday, October 19, you’ll get a $50 gift card with your $250 purchase, a $100 gift card with your $500 purchase, a $200 gift card with your $1000 purchase, a $500 gift card with your $2000 purchase, or a $900 gift card with your $3000 purchase. Online, use code AUTMNGCSF at checkout.

THE LIST
Moving right along, Aligne hired New York It P.R. agency Accent Projects, which is why you might have seen the brand pop up on Cool Girls a lot more lately. I’m always grateful for PR resources who put solid stuff on my radar, and Accent can always be relied on for having a good pulse on what’s emerging.
In particular, Alligne’s George wrap coat caught my attention. It comes in three classic colorways (I’m partial to the navy) in the silhouette everyone’s fiending for now: the robe. I got one for myself, along with their Ida jeans (due to their stretchy tie waist and loose, soft leg) are so comfortable I feel like I’m getting away with something for wearing them outside the house.

Our BFFs at Dorsey just dropped a new winter collection. Their jewelry makes a great gift but sells through quickly, so get what you need now so it ships in time to wrap and stash it. My favorites are the Delphine collar and Emilie emerald earrings.
U Beauty broke the mold with their new Flash Peel, which is the most impressive skincare launch I’ve tried all year. In 5-10 minutes, it gently exfoliates your skin down to baby-smooth levels. I did it while watching a movie with my guy in bed: I swiped it on, waited, and wiped it off with a damp washcloth. I made him touch my face afterward because I couldn’t believe how great my skin felt. U Beauty is just so far ahead of the pack in terms of technology. There are only a handful of brands I’d put at their level. A reminder that JESS20 gets you 20% off your order.

Sometimes, browsing SSENSE feels like an inside joke that I’m not in on. But the sales are so good. And they always have an inventory of the stuff sold out everywhere else. How are they always discounting such great things? I don’t know the answer to that. What I do know is they’re having a 25% off select styles with code SHOP24, and, just like Saks, it’s a great selection of new, in-season items and stalwart staples.
I will use the discount for my annual stock-up of my favorite Wolford Neon 40 tights. There’s also some good Bode, including this cutie pie bag and t-shirt. I am mystified that there are hard-to-come-by Carven pieces here, but I won’t look a gift horse in the mouth, especially when it’s a timeless grey coat (similar style by one of my new favorites, Rohe). Deeper in, I found LeSet’s reader-favorite Margot t-shirt, a popular endorsement in our chat.
Those Proenza riding boots I have that everyone always comments on? They’re 25% off, too, as well as a few of my other staples, like Wardrobe’s nylon jacket, which I’ve worn for four years running, and great staples from Frankie Shop, like their expensive-looking (but not expensive) Gaia coat and turtlenecks that echo the shape of Toteme’s.
Leave the gun, take the Cannolo?
Other SSENSE morsels include Coperni’s sexy western boots, a delicious grey wool blazer and poplin shirt from Dries, the coveted Khaite x Oliver Peoples collab, Lemaire’s easy-wearing ballerina heels and denim jacket, Lisa Yang’s always pitch-perfect knits, Manolo’s popular Maysale mule in four (!!) colorways, a classic cardi from editor darling Maria McManus, a go-to party dress from TOVE, and Christopher Esber’s viral Minette flats in a new-season chestnut.
Finally, do NOT miss their absolutely unhinged home section.
Thank-you notes to Marie Claire, WSJ, and BoF for including us in some fantastic write-ups lately and to Tiffany at ShopMy, who wrote a great recap of our fashion week dinner.
I think that’s enough density to chew on for today. Happy browsing.
The Women is one of my fave rom coms. Not a single man on camera.
Just a warning...i ordered sunglasses from Ssense and received a customs duty invoice (via fedex). Supposedly all orders over $800 and any sunglass orders are charged a customs duty around 25% of the purchase price! Ssense indicated that they would give me a credit to my account when i provide them proof of payment.
