What I'm Buying/What I'm Eyeing Right Now
The dizzy, high-summer swirl of shopping for sweltering.
Greetings! There was no newsletter last week because I got a puppy. If you’ve ever been through such a thing, then you know what I’m talkin’ ‘bout: those puppy nights are no joke, especially when you’re crate and potty training. Ooof. Sleep? Don’t know her. But now we’re in a little routine, and I am proud to report our little fluff is exactly the kind of mixed-bag student I was (thanks, dyslexia)! C- in the crate, B in the potty, A+ in cuddling. So just a quick drop-in to give you a shopping report.
I’m still on the hunt for stuff to wear that doesn’t feel as oppressive as the heat. Sweat is a fact of life, people! But I prefer to glisten. Clothes really must function right now. Even London and Paris are having historic heat waves this summer! Let’s get into it, shall we?
For Right This Moment…
These shorts are exactly the kind of interesting riff on minimalism I delight in from Prada. They can be styled a million ways, as proven by both Leandra Medine and Morgan Stewart (who also influenced me to flag these sandals by The Row). I’ve honestly got it bad for all things Prada recently — I also love these sparkly aqua numbers and this chill ’90s re-issue bag named for Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy.
This hyper-versatile, staple dress is not new to the fashion canon, but if you don’t have one, procure immediately and stash it for those what-do-I-wear moments. (Pia Baroncini recently made it look great.) We have a black tie (ish) wedding in a few weeks at the end of an extended trip. The room in my suitcase doesn’t allow for a bulky gown, so I’m taking this and making it evening with a sleek black blazer in a formal fabric, a sparkly shoe and earring, and a statement bag.
I am so into this breezy cotton Mara Hoffman number. You can wear a regular bra and undies, and it’s LINED so hurrah! No peek-through stains — sweat, spray tan, or whatnot. The same goes for this Esse Studios mini and this Renaissance Renaissance!
Courtney Grow posted about these sandals and I snapped them up immediately because she’s right — a good sandal is hard to find! Also, a digital thank-you note to her for introducing me to the hair removal wonder that is an epilator. Game changed.
I made this Toteme set mine and I’m so glad I did. It’s incredibly useful and versatile (as are most things I buy from Toteme) — I’ve worn it with strappy sandals in the evening and with a chunky flat shoe in the city during the day.
Oh my God, did you see how good Gabrielle Union made this dress look in Milan? I’m leaving you with that. Just look!
