Courtney Grow! Often imitated, never duplicated. You know her as your favorite influencer’s favorite influencer. I know her as a true girl’s girl, a life-affirming sounding board, Wyatt’s stylist, and a great Mom. I also know her to be someone who is never without snacks or lipstick — an essential trait in a friend.
We moved to New York within months of each other, and having each other to lean on during the adjustment to not only this city but also our industry was everything. We’ve spilled plenty of tea together, but today, I asked her to spill her bag — since her taste inspires thousands of wallets to come out of others’.
(I promised I would bring our Bag Spill vertical back!)
Here’s her everyday carry, in her own words.
→ THE BAG: Métier Private Eye in Buttery Napa Black
Dedcool Xtra Milk travel-size fragrance: “It smells familiar; that's my favorite way to describe it. And it's a clean fragrance.”
River sunglasses by Monokle: “Copied from the Moosgaard Twins. Perfect, lightweight, not too big or annoyingly small.”
Lipstick from Westman Atelier: “Je Reve is my current favorite shade, but I usually have at least three lip products in every bag: this liner and this drug store dupe in shade 100, "Reach High." I cannot stand lip gloss and would never be caught dead wearing any.”
Salt: “At this point, my tastebuds are scorched earth because I salt almost everything. My friends actually gave me a mini tin for my birthday a few years ago. I'm also really keen on pepper, and no salad is complete without a literal unscrew-the-cap-and-pour-on.”
Eucerin Lotion: “I saw a makeup artist apply this and thought it was some new Rhode product in research and development. It was so glossy! It turns out it was good ol' Eucerin.”
BRUT Hat: “Not all baseball caps are created equal, and this one has a superior fit. It also reminds me of a hat I had from The Gap in high school.”
Sadire Phone Case: “One of my weird obsessions is Greek mythology. As the description says, it's ‘a modern-day commentary on our self-obsession and addiction to social media. The top half is art; the bottom half is a reflective mirror.’”
Mason Pearson Boar Bristle Brush: “Immediate panic if I leave the house without this brush. My hair can start to look like linguine if I don't stay on top of it, so this is essential. It will last you a lifetime. I have one that belonged to my Grandmother Marjorie.”
Snacks! Applesauce pouches for the kids, or a plain Hershey's bar for me in case I end up at a meal with someone who refuses dessert.
Wired headphones: “I'm embarrassed by the number of AirPods I've lost.”
