A few months ago, after a wonderful night at our friend Leandra’s house and just enough wine,

Joyce Lee

, Emme Parsons, and I decided to go to LA together. Olivia Villanti was our excuse, a friend in Mexico City hosting a weekend of events for her shirting brand, Chava Studio. It’s easy for these ideas to fall off — busy lives get in the way, and promises for spontaneous girls’ trips tend to be de-prioritized if ever mentioned again.

But we followed through. Joyce found a big house in West Hollywood, and we all kicked in our pennies. Soon enough, I was waking up in Los Angeles, cupping a coffee mug in my pajamas with Joyce, Emme, Olivia, and our friend Ivanna.

Olivia was decked in her line all weekend. Emme is a shoe designer, Joyce is the former Creative Director of Madewell, and Ivanna has her paws in a million fashion industry pots — style oozes out of everyone. Of course I was going to make the girls take selfies and gather up lots of delicious outfit inspiration for the letter!

I also happen to think one of the best things about traveling is seeing what people are wearing. So, I dutifully documented it. For me, for you, for the next time we’re in an outfit slump.

It was also a great reminder that I dress better when I’m working with less clothes. So, another closet purge is imminent.
