Gifts for the Hosts and Gourmands
Because showing up empty-handed is provincial, and these gifts are anything but.
Happy Tuesday-before-Thanksgiving. I hope you’re all allowed to shift focus off work for the next few days and enjoy the people you love or some much-needed alone time. I plan to do the same, my sister-in-law to be and her boyfriend are coming to visit us in NYC, so we have a parent-free Turkey Day ahead. Even though we’re all grown ups, it kinda feels like we’re getting away with something. No adult supervision?! We’re going full Kevin McAllister. Plus wine, of course.
Happy hosting, and happy Thanksgiving. Hope this guide helps you find a little something for the festive season ahead.

Worth noting: East Fork began in Asheville with one potter working out of a traditional wood-fired kiln and has grown, over fifteen years, into more than 115 team members who now shape, glaze, and fire pieces that carry the brand’s signature materiality.
Their commitment extends beyond the table: equitable employment, community partnerships, and a quarterly pledge of one percent of all sales to grassroots justice organizations. After Hurricane Helene, they were able to bring facilities back online quickly and protect every job, while the East Fork community rallied to raise over $500,000 for relief efforts across Western North Carolina.
Since its inception in 2009 by Founder & CEO Alex Matisse, East Fork has forged its own identity rooted in craft and artistic heritage. With their introduction of the Matisse Collection, East Fork pays tribute to Henri Matisse through the eyes of his great-grandson for the first time..
That heritage isn’t treated as ornament; it’s a quiet through-line in the brand’s instinct for color, expressive form, and the emotional temperature of everyday objects. The new Matisse Collection draws that lineage forward, blending Blue Ridge craft with a multigenerational artistic vocabulary, translating it all into contemporary clay: sturdy, good-looking, and meant for everyday use.

Thank you, Jess, for highlighting the East Fork collection. Asheville and the surrounding area has a rich history of artisans and the community was devastated after Helene. While it’s easy to simply include basic LVMH and the like as “luxury”, items like these pottery pieces symbolize the true meaning of the word. These are investment pieces and the fact that you know about them and are spreading the word have earned you a level up in my book!
