I’ve been waiting for this story! You look great at both. I’m also a brunette but since greys have been dreaming of going platinum… maybe this is the moment??
You look fabulous with both!! After being a brunette for 50+ years I went blonde. I love it. But that’s because it’s much easier to go blonde when you’re not covering grey LOL
Honestly, I think you look better as a brunette! Don’t take this the wrong way but I kind of think the universe gives you the hair color you were meant to have.
As a former platinum blonde (and naturally pitch black hair), I feel like the main reason your hair remained looking/feeling like your normal healthy hair is in large thanks to the staggered lifting appointments, as well as not going SO light as to strip all the way to the core (altho maybe I'm wrong, sometimes colorists lift hair to its palest before toning deeper for desired effect).
Not saying Crown Affairs products aren't great (I haven't tried any yet, but I've always admired their very chic branding/packaging), but as a former peroxide blonde, I've gone from pitch black to Debby Harry during a 9-hour salon appointment in one go (it's hell, wouldn't do it again probably) and it turned my hair into wet spaghetti or watered-down taffy. Your colorist's strategy was a lot more, um, compassionate than my original colorist's lol
Most genuine and fun letter on Substack over and over. Sounds like you had a lot of fun!
always!

I enjoyed reading this and that Jennifer Lawrence story was really cute. I can relate to wanting to try different things with your hair.
