On the outerwear front! This coat reminds me of the oft-photographed silken Row coat, though this one is more cold-weather (and wallet) friendly. I received many link requests for this coat, which I finally broke out on Sunday — the fall weather has firmly arrived in NYC! I previously wrote about it here; I think it’s the perfect black coat. A full edit of my outerwear selects is available here.
The gorp-y sneakers all the cool girls are wearing are growing in ubiquity. I’m starting to see them everywhere, and not just on-the-street shots of off-duty models.
At brunch with my sister at Sartiano’s last weekend, I was stunned at her color recall when she identified my lipgloss by shade. Since makeup is her thing, we took a little beauty stroll in Soho after eating, hitting the Chanel Beauty Atelier and the Byredo store, where we both bought a bottle of the brand’s addictive fragrance, Black Saffron. I haven’t been this into a perfume in a long time; it’s so evocative of the city this time of year — dark and feminine and so juicy you want to bite right into it.
Byredo has a thoughtful selection of fashion collaborations — dubbed ByProduct — in their Wooster Street store. The standout was an acetate-handled black leather bag stitched in the Indian ancestral Kantha embroidery technique. Each bag is 1/1.
Continuing with the beauty updates! As I mentioned on Instagram, I haven’t been without this makeup palette lately. It’s perfect for stashing in your purse for quick touch-ups, and the tortoise compact is chic. I’ve also been wear-testing the new Westman Atelier mascara. I have super sensitive eyes, so I’m picky about mascara, but it's a winner if my DMs are to be believed. Stay tuned there. You can always find beauty recommendations ongoing here!
The Amazon Prime Day deals are already trickling in. And while I’ll leave it to you to pick a flat-screen TV, I can wholly recommend the Dyson hair dryer with a hundred bucks knocked off the price tag. Also, almost half-off: this French pharmacy staple is worth stocking up on for winter.
Gabriela Hearst’s final Chloe collection is available on Trunkshow at Moda.
Bittersweet.
Our friends at Chava Studio are getting on the red bandwagon, and the results are good.
Peter Do’s breathlessly-awaited Banana Republic collection is now live. Standout pieces include this city coat, this detachable turtleneck sweater, this tunic-style white button-down, and this utilitarian tuxedo blazer that hearkens to the “Old Banana” look.
Seeing Ruth Asawa’s Through Line exhibition at The Whitney has me craving everything delicate, billowing, and whisper-thin.
Speaking of delicate, billowing, and whisper-thin, Reformation’s collaboration with the New York City Ballet is inspired.
Dorsey’s Crawford baguette earring is back in the sold-out emerald colorway — shipping by the end of the month, just in time for holiday gifting (or the finishing touch to that party outfit).
Alex Mill has perfectly iterated on the classic quilted barn jacket via this red riff on the style. Expect many more takes on the piece now that Prada’s sent a litany down their runway last month.
If you submitted a question to the reader shopping AMA on Instagram last week, I have a three-hour flight on Thursday and plan to answer then!
