The List: Kallmeyer's Newsletter Leather. Plus Big, Bouncy Hair, Japanese Sunglasses, and Those Pencils at The Row.
Bonus: Bobbi Brown will take your questions now.
I want to begin today by pointing you to the jewelry box.
’s collab with At Present is the only geometry class I’ve passed in my life. And the Dorsey newness, notably this stunner, has me all hubba hubba.
The pencil with famous fans from Steinbeck to Sondheim had a fashion moment last week when they were again handed out for note-taking to The Row’s Paris runway attendees. That pencil would be the Blackwing, a longtime favorite of mine for line editing (their first mention in this newsletter was in 2021). It's a bonus that they look great on your desk. I love them in this color, too. (The notebook? Midori.)
First, there were newsletter pants; then there was the newsletter sweater. Are we on our way to newsletter leather? Maybe. Kallmeyer’s new Remi jacket would have you believe so — it isn’t even out yet, and I’ve spied it on more than one of my peers (s/o Becky). If you haven’t tried her clothes on yet, I urge you to do so. You’ll marvel at how well-cut they are; the fit is phenomenal.
This is a very good sweater. I’d venture to guess it will also be a newsletter sweater. I bought it. If nothing else, I am a caricature of myself.
Shout out to Net-a-Porter, the only real winner from this season of Industry, with not one or two but three direct mentions. “You had me at Net-a-Porter” is the nepo “You had me at hello.”
It’s about to be a big 2025 for big clutches. Co’s forthcoming number was all over Paris, but the style will be on the market at every price — St. Agni’s iteration hovers around $350.
Something I always do for y’all is cull through ShopBop sale items to surface the valuable things in a sea of junk. If you’ve been here awhile, you’ve heard me preach that when these sales come around, the best use of them is to stock up on the un-sexy stuff: workout gear (my favorites are from Set — like this uni, this flattering sports bra, and these hold-it-all-in leggings), running shoes (come on, yours smell), pajamas (I still stand by my favorite Lunya sets) etc.
I found a few of my favorite closet workhorses, too, like the famous Sold Out NYC “Perfect Shirt,” which I reach for frequently, especially for layering. I love the Frame Low-Slung Barrel jeans so much that I got them in two washes. (I was talking to
about how we were both expecting them to be unflattering, and instead, they ended up being our favorite jeans of the season.) There’s some good Heaven Mayhem and Wardrobe.nyc up for grabs, too, like this cool belt and this throw-on-over-anything blazer.
This sale is an excellent opportunity to refresh your sock and underwear drawer. I love these nude thongs, but I also have the higher-tummy ones for when I’m on my cycle and feel like a walking bubble. If your hose from last year have more than a few runs, pounce on discounted pairs from Wolford. And maybe stock up on some boob solutions so you’re not panicking the next time you want to wear something strappy or backless. Treat yourself to something sexy, too.
Trust me, if socks these days make you feel octogenarian, these are the right height.
There are also a handful of cult surprises — like Boy Smells’ (perfect for this time of year) Cashmere Kush candle. I had a facial from Tammy Fender in Palm Beach after too much sun and got hooked on her Plant Milk serum, a super gentle formula that soothes and hydrates just about any skin type. The Tibi girls will be thrilled to see pieces like these easy pants on offer. Newsletter darling DONNI has a few good things listed as well.
We’ve joined the new Twenty-Two member’s club in NYC. Anyone else? The Membership Director was recently quoted in a WSJ article, and she’s onto the same niche fragrance hyperfixation I am: watered-down perfumes—specifically, the alcohol-free (water-based) riff on Byredo’s Mojave Ghost.
After years of ballet buns, I am suddenly back into big, bouncy, long hair. I’ve been taking Minoxidil, and (under the careful eye of my beloved Ryan at David Mallett) my length is finally recovering from a chop job hack a few years back. I use the Dyson Air Wrap knockoff Shark at home (which, having used both, I actually think is better) and top it with Crown Affair’s finishing spray. Though the new Dyson blowdryer is like a Ferrari, I would be lying if I said I didn’t want one. Accepting all home blow-dry tips!
If I start to get heated mid-day, I’ve relied on chic, low-profile headbands (100% making a creeping comeback) from Alexandre de Paris to push the hair off my face.
All-black is back. My favorite fall looks are always rooted in the non-color, but it feels especially poignant this season. Case in point: the Rosie x Wardrobe.nyc collab is a master class in mixing inky textures with aplomb. This intensely sexy Florence bag from Savette would be a perfect way to stick the landing. And this is my perfect WFH uniform.
These earrings from Daphine are a triple threat: good-looking, versatile, and reasonably priced.
