Harnessing the Ultimate Fall "It" Look.
It's been here all along. You just didn't know where to find it.
Today’s letter is in partnership with one of my all-time favorite brands, one I own and wear often (and have bought with my own money many times over the years): G. Label by goop. They always deliver a tight edit of high-quality investment pieces, priced significantly lower than others in their ecosystem.
I am obsessed with their sweaters. Read on. You’ll see.
I have to begin by telling you the truth: I own a lot of sweaters. Big, small, short, tall, blue and green, for trousers or jeans… I’m starting to sound like Dr. Seuss. I consider myself a knits connoisseur. If you are, too, you know that a nice sweater made from high-quality fiber doesn’t come cheap. The Row’s famous Ophelia sweater? $1550. Khaite’s viral Scarlett cardigan? $1980.
But I have a secret sweater source. Spoiler alert: my source is G. Label by goop. The in-house brand is an unsung hero, in my opinion. (Or maybe it’s just IYKYK.)
Made in Italy, knitted from the same quality fibers as the above brands, and half or a third of the price — usually around $600. Still not cheap, but a hell of a lot less expensive. And knock another bit off because LOVELIST15 will get you 15% off G. Label on goop.com.
Either way, the quality-to-price ratio is competitive. I don’t understand why anyone who loves a brand like The Row or Toteme wouldn’t also be shopping G. Label just as often. I do.
I’ve been collecting their knits for years. They’re always the exact chunky heft I’m looking for, with great details like long, 90’s-esque sleeves and clever side slits so they swish around your torso just right—some I’ve had since 2018 (!) and are still holding up great.
My guy and I needed a break from the city, so last weekend, we trekked up to New England (Litchfield, CT) to enjoy the Disney Fall. I don’t mind packing but hate unpacking, so I always try to travel light and tight to spare myself the chore when I return home.
For this trip, G. Label carried me. I brought a sweater and its companion skirt, a pair of riding boots, black leggings—one with stirrups, one without—an easy black trouser, a pair of clogs, socks, a tank, a white T-shirt, a sweatshirt, sneakers for hiking, and a classic navy pea coat.
I went very minimal on skincare (just tinted sunscreen, moisturizer, and a treatment wipe), jewelry, and makeup (just a color balm). Oh, and I brought myself bath salts. Because hotel tubs are the best tubs.
With that, I could make many outfits for everything we did from Friday to Sunday, from hiking to the spa to meals out.
Checking into the Mayflower Inn: G. Label Long-Cuff crew sweater and skirt (the duo also comes in a killer shade of chartreuse), Prozena Schouler boots, Hunting Season duffle bag, Caddis glasses, goop beauty Colorblur Glow balm, and EREDE Delta signet ring.
A daytime hike in Steep Rock Nature Preserve: G. Label Campus sweatshirt, Linda Farrow sunglasses, New Balance sneakers, Iris & Romeo tinted sunscreen, goop “The Martini” bath soak (for after).
An afternoon at THE WELL Spa: G. Label Campus sweatshirt, The Row Gala pants, Caddis glasses, G. Label Luxe tee, The Row clogs, goop Beauty Overnight Glow Peel.
Brunch at The Garden Room: Le Set stirrup leggings, Sherman Field earrings and necklace, G. Label Long-Cuff crew sweater, Proenza Schouler boots, Toteme bag, G. Label The Rib tank.
Shopping in New Preston: G. Label Modern Pea coat, Le Set stirrup leggings, Proenza Schouler boots, Toteme bag, G. Label The Luxe tee, goop beauty Colorblur Glow balm, Linda Farrow sunglasses.
All I could focus on were those Proenza Schouler boots 😍
I'll take an afternoon at The Well wearing that sweater anytime. Cozy!
