The Love List Ten
February and March's most discussed, highly clicked and frequently purchased.
Happy Eclipse Day! I’m going to be blindly (heh) optimistic and declare that the worst of winter is behind us. And I don’t just mean the weather. February and March feel endless in New York, where Spring pops in for a day or two only to plummet you back into the despair of many grey, chilly, and rainy days to follow.
I get sick of all my winter clothes during this time, and nothing feels very fun to buy. It’s a fatigue many of you feel, too, based on the discussions in my DMs, our subscriber chats, and the comment section. So, I wondered if it was even worth analyzing late winter’s buying trends. But I was surprised! Many of you focused on interesting staples — denim, loafers — and little treats like moisturizer and lipstick.
Below are the season’s most discussed, clicked, and frequently purchased items, along with some new suggestions in the same vein. Shopbop is running a huge sale congruent with its 25th anniversary (sidebar: If Shopbop is 25, then I feel old), so I also pulled some items that nudge us forward into the new season — from the 177 pages of markdowns.
The loafer discourse is strong, but the front-runner for its overall look and fit seems still to be Emme Parsons’ Danielle loafer. (Visit Emme’s Designer Dossier here and Danielle Sherman’s here, for whom the loafer is named.) A note on this: I’m watching and listening to you constantly in chat — I know the loafer hunt is an extension of a larger search for office clothes for many of you. I’ve seen lots of requests for good commuter bags and office-appropriate duds. More on that to come.
iNNBEAUTY PROJECT’s Extreme Cream has all the girlies twitterpated. This tracks, given for $48, it stands up to Augustinus Bader’s $300+ bottle without breaking a sweat. Better, you can refill the same bottle when you’re finished. If you’re a Sephora VIB, you can add it to your cart during this sale period and get a discount, or if you’re not, use our code LOVELIST20 for 20% off on their website. I also suggest the Mineral Sun Glow tinted sunscreen.
Alex Mill took the denim crown with their much-danced-about launch. Since day one, I’ve been raving about these jeans; they’re wildly comfortable and easy to wear. (They also make my butt look good, which, important.) Also highly ranked is longtime reader favorite A.Golde, following up with lots of buzz about the new-to-many brand Still Here, which’s been a thing among NYC girls for a minute. I was walking through Nolita with my friends Joyce and Olivia (you know Olivia!), who quipped that if High Sport Kick Flares are “Newsletter Pants,” then Still Here’s Cool jeans are “Newsletter Jeans.” I agree — cool girl brand du jour, and perenially sold out. Looking forward to spring denim, I love this A.Golde jacket and pant in the same wash worn together and these Citizens of Humanity horseshoe jeans. And don’t forget about our girl Pammy and her Re/Done collab.
Speaking of denim, overalls deserve their own bullet point. As I mentioned in one of last week’s letters, Alex Mill and Still Here have both released pairs over the last few days. And then our favorite hot mom and beloved baddie friend
dropped a whole letter on how to style ‘em. Your favorite young swan and mine, was over for dinner this weekend and brought with him Vanity Fair Fashion Editor (and fellow Cavvy mom!) Kia Goosby, who’s sporting Alex Mill’s pair on her grid. Three makes a trend, and we’re blowing way past that number at this point. I can’t wait to sit outside on a nice day in the West Village and count the overalls.God, did you also see that barn jacket Still Here just did? SO GOOD. There’s a litany of great options, with more hitting every day. I’ve previously declared my love for Toteme’s version. Becky just wrote a great letter on this very topic!
Prada and miu miu are pulling in with two hot Spring shoes. Had you asked me when I saw the runway last year, I’d have confidently declared Prada’s satin mules a blockbuster. But according to data, the brand’s ankle-strap pumps have been a popular buy instead. And, of course, the controversial shoe of the season, miu miu’s parachute cord sandals, which I can vouch, are comfortable and sturdy enough to rely on as your singular summer sandal if you’re thinking of pulling the trigger. (Speaking of Prada, I think Theory was looking hard at Miuccia when they designed this number.) On the viral shoe note, these delightfully weird Jacquemus numbers are on the Shopbop sale.
Everyone’s on the hunt for a cool belt, and not everyone wants to spend for Khaite’s internet-favorite Benny belt. According to our affiliate data, Aureum’s No. 2 belt is a beloved staple (and almost no returns — JESS20 for 20% off). I also think this one from B-Low the Belt is rad, it’s giving me 90’s shopping mall mom in the best way. Same vein for this one, but in brown.

Then, there’s the chatter about “what’s the cool sneaker right now”? I don’t think Sambas are a moment that has passed for their pure and dead-simple practicality; they’re extremely comfortable — a non-negotiable if you live in a walking city. But if you’re looking for an alt, you have options. The Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 is still cute. As previously reported, Steve McQueen’s favorite, Jack Purcells, are roaring back into the conversation, as are simple, minimally soled white sneakers like Keds and these Zara numbers.
We are all taking such good care of our stuff y’all! This post continues to rank highly, but I was shook to see just how many of you honed in on my teeny mention of the Nori Press and smashed the buy button. Let me know how you like it!
The single hinged and triple row styles are rounded out of Dorsey’s ear cuffs, which securely attach to the ear to give a pierced look wherever you like without the needle commitment. I encourage you to revisit this interview with our beloved Meg, who founded Dorsey. She recently gave me this book, full of inspo-rich pages which I’ve been poring over. I highly recommend it if you need to shake your brain awake styling-wise.
A final and friendly reminder that the Shopbop sale is a great time to stock up on the un-sexy stuff. Nipple covers, undies, workout sneakers, cover-ups, and sets, swimwear and inexpensive beach bags, pajamas, and sleep accessories.
That moisturizer is a 10/10!
What is the brand of the mineral glow tinted sunscreen? For some reason, the link isn't opening for me! What love to know what that product is :)
