Let’s put the Amazon morality debate to the side for a moment and admit that it’s just, well… convenient. Anything that spares me the rot and despair of setting foot inside a Walmart is a small win, especially when it comes directly to my door.
December is a month where I lean particularly heavy on Amazon — with its bevy of product specifics, reviews, and options, even when I try to buy something (like, say, Christmas lights) locally, I end up driving all over town, not finding what I want and ordering from Amazon anyway. Do I still shop locally for lots of other stuff? Sure! But when it comes to ornament hooks, fancy laundry detergent, and simple, but brilliant modern conveniences (timer pill caps, hello!) — I’m headed straight to the land of Besos.
So there, that’s my one and only two-paragraph defense, and from here on out, I am not going to preface any recommendations from the site with as much effort. Onward with my favorites!
Every time I post these wine racks on my Instagram story, I get a million DMs asking about them. I like that they’re wall-mounted, which makes them great in multiples for a cellar or collection display. At my old condo, I had one mounted on the inside wall of my pantry. At the loft, I have them lined up to hold our wine inventory in a recessed storage area for easy access. Vintage View wine rack, 145.00
I love an oversized mug. Something about a heaping cup of coffee or tea just feels luxurious to me. This set of double-walled glass mugs is very generously-sized and keeps my beverage warm while I slowly sip away. Also, I think these got popular because Kourtney Kardashian uses something similar? Set of four insulated glass coffee mugs, 39.95
Airtags are one of those “where has this been?” products that come along and make you wonder how you ever did without. These small, inexpensive discs are basically tracking devices. Once activated, you assign the Airtag to a belonging and it pops right up in Find My iPhone, forever findable. I have them sewn into the lining of my favorite handbags. I also have one attached to my dog’s collar with this nifty little band, which conveniently color-coordinates with her collar and leash set. Set of four Apple Airtags, 99.00 / AirTag collar case, 9.01
We universally accept that certain things are going to be frustrating: gas pumps with bulky cords that fight you, tangled necklaces worn in multiples…and Christmas ornament hooks. Well, someone finally improved upon the latter, and they’re a delight to use. Upgrade! 120 piece Christmas ornament hooks, 12.99
Two capfuls of this stuff in a load of bath towels or sheets is… a revelation. For laundry detergent, it is expensive, but considering how concentrated it is, one bottle usually lasts me a year. I also saw a hack on TikTok where someone diluted it in water and used the mixture as a linen spray. Either way, it smells like heaven — if heaven was expensive. Tyler Glamorous Wash laundry detergent, 18.50
In the next three months, I’m traveling to Carmel, Manhattan, Antigua, and Florida (twice). Packing is a chore I loathe, but a necessary evil. I hate having to whittle down my comforts into a carry-on, and thanks to my adult ADD (for which I do not medicate) there is always something I forget, no matter how many lists I make. Enter the rolling rack. For someone like me who needs everything visually laid out in order to take inventory, employing something as simple as a garment rack is a pretty major life hack. I like this one in particular because it was easy to assemble, it’s sturdy, and it has two hanging bars, making it easier for my brain to parse clothing into outfits. I also love the little shelf at the bottom for folding items and shoes. Simple Trending double rod garment rack, 44.99
I have important medication I have to take every evening, but again, my ADD brain gets in the way — I often forget if I took the pills yet or not. These simple timer caps are genius! They’re motion-activated stopwatches that let you know how long it’s been since the bottle was last opened. I imagine these would also be handy if you’re worried about someone pilfering your prescriptions. These went viral on TikTok, so be patient with the backorder. Set of four Timercap pill top reminder cases, 23.95
If I were Amina Muaddi, I would be litigating these — a dead ringer for her popular PVC styles. Women’s clear high heels, 47.89
Are some bobby pins better than others? You bet your sweet tail. Just ask celeb stylist Jen Atkin, who swears by these premium pins. The grip is unbeatable — I can put my long hair in a bun that holds with just two. These also went semi-viral, and are back-ordered, so order now to have in-hand ASAP. (They make ‘em for blondes, too!) Metagrip premium bobby pins, 12.99
Finally, my beloved, beloved wintertime moisturizer. If your skin gets snakelike come winter, this is the best in its under $20 category — I have even seen Skincare gurus like Charlotte Parlermino use it on lips! LaRoche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5, 14.99
