One of the reasons I love oysters so much is that they make you work for them. Slurping them is a pleasure because it feels like a reward you earned.
Shopping is that way, too. There’s a thrill in the hunt. I excavate and surface beautiful, enduring things. I share the bounty here on The Love List, and where I hope you’ll indulge with me.
It’s that feeling of discovery that inspired our Designer Dossier franchise, where I feature the best and most beautiful of what I find, usually woman-led and independent. After three years of interviews, Designer Dossier has borne an IRL experience: our paid New York readers can come to shop with and meet these women in person at our “Pop In on The Park.”
But you should be able to have a crack even if you’re elsewhere, right? Right. That’s the reason for this send — so everyone can “shop the pop.”
Inside this email is the stuff none of your friends have, the “Where did you get that?” stuff. You can feel good about buying because you’re supporting women who care about ethical production and are good stewards of their industry.
These women —Ashley Harris, Esha Soni, Gigi Burris, Olivia Villanti, Erin Pollard, Victoria Lampley, Talia Levy, Serena Cipullo, and Yvonne Roe— prove that heart, original thought, good taste, and sheer grit will get you most of the way… and another woman will be there to carry you over the line when it won't. I’m proud to call them my friends, and I can’t wait for you to meet them.
Meet Our Pop-Up Designers
Meet Victoria Lampley of The Stax
She’s the it girl who the it girls call.
Victoria’s personality sparkles as bright as her taste in jewelry. To know her is to adore her. Her consultancy, The Stax, leads our pop-in’s fine jewelry curation, so I asked Vic to run us through a few of her favorite pieces that will be on hand today. If you like anything below but can’t be here IRL, DM her.
P.S. — don’t miss her newsletter, ! - JG
EREDE's new Torque Dome Ring is high on my wishlist. Everything Talia and Jeramie design is just chic. Its silhouette is perfectly balanced as an ergonomic dome, rising above the finger for prominence. I also love that this ring can be customized with 1 to 4 birthstones set inside the dome—an intimate detail designed solely for the wearer, symbolizing the most important people in your life.
I've been jonesing after a Renato Cipullo Splendente “R” Letter Charm for far too long, specifically for my son Rex. I love that Renato designed an original font for the piece—70s motifs and Italian graphic design inspired him.
I've been a fan of CAM Studio from the moment I met the founder, Christen, and locked eyes with the striking rock pendants on her handmade gold chains. Her work feels as energetic and grounded as she is. It is all handcrafted by her in LA. Each of her chain links is first molded out of clay and then cast in solid gold, which gives her pieces such a beautiful patina. I'm currently obsessing over her Oak Lariat.
Wearing BECK Jewels always feels like I’m on vacation. The pieces make me think of time on the water when I'm happiest and tannest. This new Ancla Necklace, in the perfect shade of green, is such a statement. I love that it's made of Aventurine, known as "The Stone of Opportunity," which is believed to attract luck and prosperity to the wearer.
If you know me, you know I love my ear stack. I've had multiple ear piercings, which I've curated with J Colby Smith over the years. Jenna Katz started making these perfectly stackable Double Hoop hugs —a killer addition. I have them in an array of rainbow sapphire stones I wear up my ear, and I now want a diamond pair to stack every day. When you see them, you want five of them at once.
Our jewelry edit IRL today also includes pieces from Natalia Pas, Tom Canty, Jennifer Alfano (of
!), and the absolutely radiant Jade Ruzzo, who (delightfully) named her latest collection after her love for boy bands, Britney, and all things 00’s pop.You can IG DM Vic @TheStax for details on anything you see. BOUNTY!!!
Our “Shop the Pop” Edit
If you can’t be here in person, don't feel left out; you can still shop!
1. EREDE
Talia and Jeramie’s new Delta Studs, the perfect companion for their blockbuster Delta Signet ring, are debuting today at the pop-up. It will be hard to leave these for the shoppers and not buy them myself. You can choose between lab-grown or natural diamonds inset. For those shopping from a distance, order them to your preference, and they’ll ship quickly.
2. Esha Soni
Have you met Esha yet? Well, what are you waiting for? And yes, this chartreuse number is part of our IRL edit today and is also available here.
3. Gigi Burris
Gigi is bringing lots of new fall hats from her Core collection, including her new Denim colorway—a dusty blue velour. Haven’t you heard? It’s the era of the statement hat. And you really ought to try before you buy — hats are personal, y’know?
4. Kindred Black
Alice and Jen are bringing a menagerie of their hand-concocted stains and handmade botanical fragrances, including their very special solid perfume, “Enfleurage,” which is not available to the public yet. This Mimosa Blossom perfume solid is artisanally crafted in micro batches on a farm in upstate NY from bushels of fresh, organically grown flowers. Each hand-blown pot of perfume is created with a naturally occurring mimosa floral wax blended with painstakingly handmade enfleurage solids of lilac, jasmine, and tuberose flowers. An olfactory delight!
5. Wildlike
Our very cool friends at Wildlike will be doing piercings onsite! Known for their astrology-driven earscapes (yep, that’s a thing), you can pick up some new earrings and make extra room for them on your lobes, all in the same trip. If you’re in NYC or Dallas, their piercing studios are a fabulous experience. And, of course, you can shop their earrings from anywhere.
6. LŪRA
We’re the first to have Lūra’s new Mini Enni Brief bag, which comes in a slick skin of faux croc that’s handmade to order in Italy. I love the practicality of the detachable shoulder strap, which is long enough to be worn crossbody — an important detail.
7. Don’t Let Disco
Ashley will be live beading all day, but she’ll have plenty of finished pieces to shop, too. Chief among them is her popular Serenity Orb necklace in a variety of candy-colored hues. I love the Blue Chalcedony and grey lace agate beads all brought together on silk above.
8. Underwater Weaving Studio
I’m gaga for Erin’s brand new Crescent Clutch. Those of you coming to the pop-up will be among the first to see it. She will be live-weaving in the garden today, but if you can’t be here in person, order one on her website before they sell out by the afternoon. I love the black colorway for fall, too.
9. Ghia
We’ll have the brand’s brand-new sparkling aperitif, Le Fizz! This just came out today, and we’re very excited for you to try it.
10. Chava Studio
Our Te Amo, Chava collab shirt will be available onsite for made-to-measure purchase. Our first run sold out in an hour!
Thank You Notes
I’m Southern. Of COURSE I’m going to write my thank you notes! Without these people, I couldn't have done it (the pop-up, the anniversary dinner, the planning, the prep, the sheer moral support).
Thanks to our great partner and friend, ShopMy’s Tiffany Lopinsky, for sponsoring our third-anniversary dinner/Uno tournament at our beloved Raf’s, my queen and manager Sophie Krakoff, and to my buddy/PR dynamo Gaby Katz and the team at Accent PR_ojects for getting the word out.
Promotional considerations in-kind were provided by: Ghia, Summerfall, Sakara, Oona Wine, Tate’s Bakeshop, Sofie Pavitt, Victoria Beckham Beauty, Dr. Diamond’s Metacine, Ami Cole, UBeauty, Joanna Czech, Blue Lagoon Skincare, and Tower 28.
